As Governor, Janet Mills has worked hard to support our students and public schools, achieving more in her four years in Augusta than many others before her-and she did it during a pandemic when our schools needed solid leadership. Here are a few of her achievements:

• Governor Mills made historic investments in Maine students and schools, finally delivering on Augusta’s decades-old promise to make 55% state funding of public schools a reality.
• Governor Mills took vital steps to address the shortage of qualified teachers by raising the minimum teacher salary to $40,000 per year.
• Governor Mills ensured that no student in Maine schools goes hungry during the school day, providing state funding to cover all costs of free meals for all students.
